Clean Air Pilot Project Kicks Off in Dar es Salaam

In partnership with local municipalities and school boards, Greener Africa Initiatives has begun deploying low-cost air quality sensors across Dar es Salaam city. This Clean Air Pilot Project targets high-risk zones such as school compounds, markets, and bus terminals.

The goal is to collect real-time pollution data (PM2.5, CO₂, and NO₂ levels) and use it to inform public health alerts, environmental planning, and urban policy design. The data will be visualized through a public dashboard and shared with city officials for timely response.

The pilot is the first of its kind in southern Tanzania and will serve as a model for scaling to other urban centers in East Africa.
